Objectives for 2021-2022

~To enhance students’ reading and writing competence.

~To promote a positive learning environment where students can learn confidently, enhance their self-management and relationship skills.

Implementation Plan (Schedule: Whole Year)
- Implement Space Town in Key Stage 1

~Different reading and writing strategies will be introduced to help students develop effective learning skills.

~Various activities will be implemented in each unit to arouse students’ learning interests.

~Unit-end reading and writing formative assessments will be conducted to provide students with timely feedback and inform them of their performance as well as how to make further progress.

2.2 Implement Keys 2 in Key Stage 2

~Different reading and writing strategies will be introduced to help students develop effective learning.

~Process writing will be implemented to enhance students’ writing skills.

~iPads will be provided during the writing lessons to encourage students to use online resources (e.g., dictionaries) to help them write.

~Editing code will be applied to help students enhance their writing.

2.3 Implement Development of Text Sets (DTS) in P.4 and P.5

~Two working teams will be formed to design and select appropriate learning materials for P.4 and P.5.

~Two sets of learning materials (Friends & Values, Healthy Eating) will be developed for P.4 and one set for P.5 (Detectives).

2.4 Participate in the learning diversity project initiated by The Education University of Hong Kong (English Education for Learning Diversity in Primary Schools) (P.1)

~A working team will be formed which will include P.1 English and GS teachers.

~A teaching and administrative assistant will be employed to take care of lower achievers during the English lessons and handle the project’s administrative work.

~‘Language across the Curriculum’ will be implemented in P.1 English and GS to create a language rich environment.

~A teacher training workshop conducted by The Education University of Hong Kong will be provided to all the English teachers and P.1 GS teachers in August 2021 to equip them with the basic techniques to handle students with diverse learning needs.

~Co-planning meetings (at least four times a year) will be held with experts from The Education University of Hong Kong.

~A learning app and e-books will be designed for self-directed learning.

~Remedial classes (10-12 sessions each term) will be provided to 3-5 lower achievers in P.1 by undergraduates from The Education University of Hong Kong.

2.5 Integrate Responsive Classroom (RC) into the English curriculum

~Two major elements in RC will be utilized during English lessons, i.e., teacher language and interactive modelling.

~Learning Circles will be formed by the form teachers.

~Co-planning will be carried out to discuss how to integrate these two elements into the English lessons.

~Co-teaching will be implemented to promote peer learning.

2.6 Strengthen Students’ Social and Emotional Competence (Seed Project)

~A working team will be formed to design and select appropriate learning materials for P.3.

~A set of learning materials and activities based on stories will be designed to help students enhance their self-management and relationship skills.

~Co-planning meetings will be held regularly with the Advisory Teacher from the NET Section.

3. An Idiom A Day

It is our plan this year to introduce various idioms to our students in a methodical way. Below lists the 58 idioms in our curriculum along with the relevant materials.
